On January 28, a practical teacher training course took place at edu.lab, focusing on digital creativity and educational innovation. Teachers from all over Swabia and various disciplines came together to gain new inspiration for their lessons – in an environment that encourages experimentation and participation.
A start to marvel at: guided tour of edu.lab
The day began with a guided tour of edu.lab, led by Jörg Haas. The chocolate and pancake printers attracted particular attention, not only causing amazement but also sparking creative ideas for use in the classroom. Participants were free to move around, ask questions, and gather their first impressions – true to the motto: hands-on technology.
TinkerCAD compact: Getting started made easy
The versatile TinkerCAD tool was presented in a 30-minute introduction. In addition to the technical functions, the focus was primarily on the educational applications. Participants received practical tips and materials to work directly with their students – from modeling to simulation.
CAD for Everyone
This was followed by the “CAD for Everyone” session, which was aimed particularly at beginners. In just one hour, the basics were explained in an understandable way and the participants were motivated to try it out for themselves. The subsequent free work phase was used intensively to develop initial projects, print them out on the two 3D printers, and exchange ideas with each other.
Afternoon workshops: Simulations, circuits & coding
In the afternoon, the edu.lab opened its doors for mini-workshops in the presentation corner and a separate room. Participants were able to take part in the following sessions at fixed times:
- Simulations: Digital models of physical processes – clear and interactive.
- Circuits: Understanding electronics and building your own circuits – with simple means and great effect.
- Coding: Introduction to programming – practical and directly applicable in the classroom.
Final presentations: Proud of their own projects
Starting at 3:30 p.m., the participants presented their results. The diversity ranged from creative CAD models to functioning circuits and small programs. The presentations impressively demonstrated how much potential there is in combining technology and education.
Conclusion: A day full of inspiration
The training course at edu.lab was a complete success. It not only provided professional inspiration, but also space for creativity, exchange, and enthusiasm. The participants particularly appreciated the practical focus and the opportunity to get actively involved themselves.
